Lawmakers Announce Bucks County Historical Society Earns Cultural, Historical Preservation Grant

Lawmakers in Bucks County, Pennsylvania have announced that the Bucks County Historical Society (BCHS) has been awarded a $4,000 grant from the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission (PHMC). Representatives Craig Staats, Shelby Labs, Joe Hogan, K.C. Tomlinson, and Kristin Marcell expressed their satisfaction with the news, highlighting the significance of the BCHS in educating and celebrating the rich history of Bucks County.

"We are all very pleased to see the Bucks County Historical Society earn this grant from the PHMC this week," stated the lawmakers. "BCHS has been a great resource for the county and for those who are interested in learning more about the deep and fascinating history of Bucks County. The support from the PHMC recognizes the work that the nearly 40 full-time workers and 200 volunteers do to educate and celebrate the history of Bucks County."

The Bucks County Historical Society was established in 1880 by Gen. William Watts Hart Davis and has been headquartered at the Elkins Building in Doylestown since 1904. The society is comprised of 40 full- and part-time staff members, as well as over 200 dedicated volunteers. Membership is open to individuals, families, organizations, and businesses and is overseen by a board of trustees consisting of 30 individuals from Bucks County and beyond.

This grant from the PHMC will undoubtedly provide a significant boost to the Bucks County Historical Society's ongoing efforts in preserving and showcasing the history of the region. It will allow the society to continue its educational programs and activities, as well as expand its reach to a wider audience.

The announcement of this grant is a testament to the dedication and hard work of the staff and volunteers at the Bucks County Historical Society. Their commitment to preserving and promoting the history of Bucks County has not gone unnoticed, and this recognition from the PHMC is a well-deserved honor.
