Middle Bucks Institute of Technology issued the following announcement.
Dear Middle Bucks Community,
This letter is to inform you that another individual affiliated with Middle Bucks Institute of Technology tested positive for COVID-19. The individual followed the guidelines in the school’s health and safety plan, reported the necessary information to Middle Bucks Institute of Technology, and is currently isolating for the appropriate number of days. Middle Bucks Institute of Technology immediately contacted and reported all necessary information to the Bucks County Department of Health.
Moving forward, you will receive this information through a school alert and be referred to the COVID dashboard summarizing positive for the school year on our website at www.mbit.org rather than receiving this letter.
The school will directly notify all those students and staff members who came into contact with the individual while in school or school sponsored activities. The CDC defines “close contact” as someone who was within 6 feet of an infected person for at least 15 minutes starting from 2 days before illness onset (or, for asymptomatic clients, 2 days prior to positive specimen collection) until the time the patient is isolated. The Bucks County Department of Health (BCDH) will oversee a contact tracing process. For more information about the contact tracing process, visit the Pennsylvania Department of Health website.
Symptoms of COVID-19 may include, but are not limited to, fever or chills, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, or new loss of taste or smell. We recommend that students stay home and contact health care professionals if you are showing any of the symptoms outlined above. If you have questions, please feel free to reach out to me.
Sincerely,
Kathryn Strouse
