Annual Sellersville Thanksgiving Eve Worship Service

Concert2

Trinity Lutheran Church recently issued the following announcement.

Annual Sellersville Thanksgiving Eve  Worship Service

Wednesday, November 24, 2021 @ 7:30 pm at St. Michael's Lutheran Church, 25 E Church St., Sellersville

Community members are invited to join together in thanksgiving to God on the eve of the Thanksgiving holiday. Special instrumental and bell choir music will be featured, along with Scriptures and hymns for the season. The preacher is the Rev. Trudy Irving from St. Paul's. Attendees are asked to please wear a mask or face covering for the safety of all. A monetary offering will be received for Pennridge FISH. A new twist this year is to invite worshipers to bring an offering of snack items for Pennridge RamPacks, a weekend/holiday food program for school-aged children in need. Currently RamPacks serves children in ALL of the Pennridge Elementary Schools and at South Middle School. Suggested snack items for RamPacks include individual bags of Doritos, Popcorn, Cheezits, etc. The Sellersville Thanksgiving service began in 1945 as a "union service" between St. Michael's and St. Paul's churches. After World War II ended earlier that year, members of a grateful nation gathered to give thanks to God. The service was held on Thanksgiving Day in the morning at St. Michael's with the Rev. James Shepley from St. Paul's preaching. A combined choir of 34 voices led the service, which was attended by 261 persons. Later in 1966, St. Agnes joined the effort, and in 2017 Jerusalem Lutheran participated for the first time. This year's service continues the 76-year tradition.
