Representative Craig Staats of the 145th District in Pennsylvania has announced significant grant funding allocated to various school districts within the region to enhance school safety, security, and mental health support. The grants were awarded by the School Safety and Security Committee (SSSC) to ensure a safe and supportive environment for students.

The funding, totaling $155 million from federal and state sources, was approved by the SSSC as part of the FY 2023-24 budget. Rep. Craig Staats expressed his enthusiasm for the initiative, stating, "I am thrilled to see districts across the 145th receive this funding. It will allow districts to make sure their schools are both safe and welcoming communities for their students."

The grants were distributed through different programs aimed at addressing various aspects of school safety and mental health support. These include Noncompetitive School Mental Health Grants, Formula-Based School Safety and Security Meritorious Grants, Competitive School Safety and Security Grants, and Targeted School Safety Grants for Nonpublic Schools.

Several school districts in the 145th District were recipients of the grant funding, with specific allocations outlined as follows:

- Upper Bucks CTC received $70,000 from the Mental Health Grants.

- Palisades School District received $152,970, with funds from both Safety and Security Meritorious Grants and Mental Health Grants.

- Pennridge School District received a total of $677,192 from various grant programs.

- Quakertown Community School District received $205,771, allocated from Safety and Security Meritorious Grants and Mental Health Grants.

- Souderton Area School District was granted $479,398 from different grant sources.

The grants aim to support initiatives that enhance school security, provide mental health resources, and ensure a safe learning environment for students. The funding underscores the commitment to prioritizing the well-being and safety of students within the 145th District and beyond.
