Reps. Craig Staats, Shelby Labs, and Donna Scheuren have announced that the Telford Borough Authority has been granted $9.8 million by PENNVEST for a drinking water well development project. The project will focus on installing granular-activated carbon filter vessels to treat perfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in drinking water wells located in Telford Borough, West Rockhill Township, and Hilltown Township.
The initiative involves constructing freestanding buildings or building additions at each well site to house the filter vessels and their associated accessories. "It is incredible to see PENNVEST approve this necessary funding for the Telford Borough Authority," said Staats. He emphasized that this would enhance the quality of drinking water for his constituents in Telford and West Rockhill while improving system efficiency.
Shelby Labs expressed support for ongoing infrastructure investments aimed at enhancing water quality, noting that the project will directly benefit residents of Hilltown Township served by the Telford Borough Authority. Donna Scheuren highlighted that her constituents in Montgomery's section of Telford Borough would gain from this essential project, which promises technological advances in filtration and increased peace of mind regarding drinking water safety.
PENNVEST is known for providing low-cost financial assistance to tackle issues related to water, wastewater, stormwater, and non-point source pollution impacting public health, safety, environmental compliance, and economic development.
