Rep. Craig Staats has announced that the Quakertown Community School District (QCSD) has been awarded a grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE). This funding is part of the PDE’s Environmental Repairs Grant Program, designed to help schools improve their facilities.
The grant money can be used by school districts, career and technical education centers, and charter schools to enhance water infrastructure and eliminate contamination. The funds are also intended to support the installation of point-of-use treatment devices to reduce lead and other contaminants, as well as address issues related to mold or asbestos. Other environmental hazards in school buildings can also be remediated using these grants.
QCSD is set to receive a total of $156,627 through this program. Rep. Staats expressed satisfaction with the allocation, stating, "I am thrilled to see QCSD receive this important funding. This grant money from PDE will allow Quakertown to fund some needed improvements and safety projects for facilities in the district. This will make our schools safer for students and teachers for the foreseeable future."
The grant aims to support school districts in maintaining and improving safe learning environments.
