Pennco Tech issued the following announcement.
In the 21st century, gender norms about careers are breaking down in a big way. Women are increasingly going into the trades in order to fill the labor gap and pursue work that’s in high demand. Women have made strides in a variety of male-dominated industries. They have ascended to the highest levels of companies and have fought for equal rights and opportunities with success. How do we find ways to continue to foster this growth and encourage more women to take the dive and embrace trades as a viable career path?
Currently, America is looking at a huge shortage of skilled workers in trade jobs. Many trades are turning toward the untapped population of females, in hopes of encouraging them to pursue trades. Over the years the number of tradeswomen has been steadily rising over the years–and the entire country stands to benefit.
Expanding the visibility of women who are already in the industry is a huge part of getting more women in trades. Today, more organizations recognize this need, and have made it their mission to support women in the trade. There are many studies that have shown when women are part of a trade work force in a company; it positively impacts profits and collaboration.
Pennco Tech has always supported women in the trades. In fact, all of their programs have female students, including: auto body & paint, automotive, diesel truck, electrician, HVAC&R, plumbing and heating, medical assistant, and pharmacy tech. They even created a special program called “Girl Power” to encourage women of all ages to get involved in the trades.
Educational Opportunities
One of the most important ways that we can help women get into a trade and build a long-lasting career is to focus on getting women the educational opportunities to learn the trade of their choice. Through schools like Pennco Tech, women have better access to the resources and education required to enter these trades as prepared as possible.
