Our First          Crafternoon

Decoupaged Box workshop

Sunday Aug 21 from 2-4:30

with Marge Naperski

All supplies provided ( kit fee of $20. paid at beginning of class )          Whether you are a beginner or experienced maker, in this workshop you          become absorbed by the process and focused on how work and play merge          and creativity grows. The wooden box presents an opportunity to          create a composition on the surface using decoupage. You learn to          apply layers of paper and build them into your composition--your work          of art to display and use, or given as a gift. Once you've learned          the techniques, you will be able to upcycle other items you have as          all you'll need is time, patience, and a few very affordable          materials and tools. In this workshop you select papers from Marge’s          extensive collection to transform a hinged wooden box (supplied) into          your unique creation. The cost includes all materials as well as a          written tutorial. In designing the box students learn how to apply          color combinations using papers, paint, and ephemera, reinforcing art          principles in a fun way. This can include painting and using common          items creating assemblage and sculptural elements results with saved          and recycled items. Supplies provided include a wood box with hinged          top and clasp, all paints, adhesives, a collection of colored and          printed papers (if you have something you love and want to use, bring          it – but if photos, best to have copies) and various hard decorative          elements (like bottle caps, items from nature, used postage stamps,          fabrics, discarded jewelry, bits of string, leather and metal scraps,          book pages, beads and more.
